An investigation group headed by Xun Huanzhong, chairman of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC), toured Sinomach’s subsidiary, the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Mechanization Sciences (CAAMS) in Beijing on Oct 15 during the academy’s 60th anniversary.

During the visit, the team viewed its calligraphy, painting and photography exhibition set up for the anniversary celebrations, along with a sand table showing a miniaturized model of the layout.

At the symposium that followed, Xun received a report on the academy’s profile, major projects, current operations and challenges.

He praised the academy’s vital role and significant contributions to China during its mechanization of agriculture. CAAMS, he said, should focus its efforts on increasing competitiveness, improving its management, and aiming for a balanced pattern of R&D and manufacturing. He advised the institute to bring down its asset-liability ratio and optimize the capital structure through lean management.

CAAMS, founded in 1956, has seen a huge transformation from a research institute into a comprehensive developer and producer of high-tech machinery for agriculture over the past six decades. It operates one national-level key laboratory, two national engineering laboratories, two national engineering technology research centers, and two national supervision and testing centers for agricultural machinery, tools and food machinery.
