SIPPR helps ASEAN enhance capacity of animal disease diagnostic laboratories in Cambodia
SIPPR Engineering Group Co Ltd (SIPPR), a subsidiary of Sinomach, has won the bidding to upgrade and furnish an animal disease diagnosis laboratory in Cambodia, a project initiated by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and funded by China.
The animal disease lab will provide a wide range of testing services that impact veterinarians, animal health officials, livestock producers and animal owners. These services will protect the health of the animal population by providing prompt, accurate, and reliable diagnoses of animal diseases, including those that may affect the human population.
The project, located in the Cambodian capital Phnom Penh, aims to build a new animal disease diagnosis laboratory that will include two Biosecurity Level 2 (BSL-2) areas, with its engineering design and project management placed in the hands of SIPPR. It is the company's first overseas project that include BSL-2 labs, a stride forward as the animal epidemic disease inspection and quarantine industry in China goes global.
BSL-2 labs work with agents aligned with human diseases (like pathogenic or infectious organisms) that pose a moderate health hazard. The agents within a BSL-2 include equine encephalitis viruses and HIV.
CMEC helps operate upgraded power plant in Iraq
Sinomach subsidiary China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) has undertaken an extension project of the 650-megawatt combined-cycle gas turbine power plant in Basra, Iraq. The project's No 1 unit has been in trial operation, and the plant's owner recently decided to hand over its commercial operation to CMEC as well.

The project will add 10 waste heat boilers and five steam turbine generator sets as well as necessary accessories to the power plant, which will use a combined-cycle rather than the typical single-cycle.
CMEC has made positive efforts to alleviate power shortages and improve people's livelihoods in southern Iraq, which has been highly recognized by the project owner and all sectors of society including the Iraqi government.
CAMCE-built sugar factory ready for crushing season
The Tana Beles No 1 Sugar Factory, built in the Amhara regional state of Ethiopia by Sinomach subsidiary China CAMC Engineering Co Ltd (CAMCE), recently ignited and heated two boilers to prepare for the 2022 crushing season.
The Tana factory has a sugarcane processing capacity of 13,000 tons per day and a refined sugar production capacity of 1,500 tons per day, with processed sugarcane totaling up to 500,000 tons during the manufacturing season.
CAMCE has been tasked with the follow-up construction work of the project, including building design, material supply, civil engineering, debugging and personnel training.
