China-aided hospital handed over to Laos after 1st phase completed

The first phase of the China-aided Mahosot General Hospital Project, which was undertaken by Sinomach subsidiary China IPPR International Engineering Co Ltd (IPPR), was recently completed with a handover ceremony in the Lao capital of Vientiane.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chinese Ambassador to Laos Jiang Zaidong said that the project is another fruitful achievement of friendly bilateral cooperation in the health sector.

He noted that the project will enable people in Laos to enjoy quality medical services, better health safeguards and local economic development.

Lao Health Minister Bounfeng Phoummalaysith hailed the Mahosot General Hospital Project, completed with a grant from the Chinese government and people, as a major cooperation project between the two countries.

The project is designed to be the largest general hospital equipped with the best facilities and most comprehensive department settings and the most important medical teaching base in Laos.

It is also the first low-energy and high-quality general hospital building in Laos and even the Southeast Asia region as a whole.

As a landmark project in China-Laos cooperation in public welfare, the China-aided health project includes the expansion of the existing Mahosot Hospital in Vientiane and the construction of new in-house medical facilities, with a construction area of approximately 54,000 square meters capable of holding 600 beds.

It is the largest general hospital construction project in terms of investment and accommodation capabilities among China's foreign aid construction projects in the field of health so far.

Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan appreciates CMEC power projects

Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Nong Rong recently tweeted his appreciation for the efforts made by Sinomach subsidiary China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) in the Block-II Project of the Pakistan Thar Coalfield, the Thar Power Plant Phase II Project and the Jhang Gas Turbine Combined Cycle Project.

Noting CMEC's actions in pursuing the green development of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), Nong also spoke highly of the company's measures to ensure the smooth and high-quality progress of the project with regular epidemic prevention and control.

Based on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), CMEC has always further expanded the markets in Pakistan, and pursued sustainable development featuring mutual benefits and win-win results.

It also takes an active part in local development by building local talent teams and employing local people, which has improved Pakistan's socioeconomic outlook and people's livelihoods.
