IPPR wraps up Changbai Mountain ecological protection and restoration project

China IPPR International Engineering Co Ltd (IPPR), an affiliate of Sinomach subsidiary China CAMC Engineering Co Ltd, has undertaken a general contract project for the conservation and restoration of mountains, rivers, forests, farmland, lakes and grasslands in the Changbai Mountains. The project was recently accepted by the working group of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council and gained high acclaim.

The project is part of Sinomach's commitment to green development, which contributes to building a beautiful China as a long-term mission that bears on the sustainable development of the Chinese nation and the well-being of over a billion Chinese people.

The project includes the protection and tending of woods, habitat protection for rare species, conservation of planting resources, removal and renovation of hydropower stations, control of geological hazards, water quality management, protection of urban water sources, ecological improvement of river channels and wetland restoration.

Since its inception in 2018, the IPPR team went all out to resolve key technical problems of the multi-disciplinary and inter-professional project. The team members enhanced the conservation of forest resources and biological diversity in the process of project implementation, which involves regulating rivers and watersheds, restoring wetlands, improving water quality and the ecological environment, and optimizing ecosystem service functions in a bid to accelerate the green transformation of regional development.

Thirty-two of the 51 sub-projects of the Changbai Mountain project have been accepted, and 12 are completed and waiting for acceptance. Finishing touches are being put on the others.
